Our Story

Sometimes a piece of furniture can be full of special memories.
My parents own a lovely vintage Southwold-style armchair, upholstered in traditional blue ticking with comfy wing backs and lovely piped arms. Growing up, it was my favourite place to sit and read.

Mabel, our family dog, seems to know instinctively that I like that chair; because now, when I visit my parents, she likes nothing better than to curl up on it with her favourite toy, a badger I bought her from a charity shop.

Boston Terriers and badgers share that distinctive black and white colour scheme, and they look really cool together! And that’s what gave me the idea for the dog beds (and the name).

As every dog owner knows, when they’re not out on walkies or following you expectantly around the house for meals or treats, your dog spends an awful lot of time curled up on its bed.

And chances are that bed will be centre stage in your living space (all the better for the two of you to keep a watchful eye on each other). Owner and dog in close proximity. We wouldn’t want it any other way.

So why not have a dog bed that would tick two boxes: a practical and comfy slumber-zone for our beloved pet to hop into any time of day, to lie and watch the world go by and dream their doggy dreams.

But also a bed that has an almost ‘upholstered’ look, with top quality construction and a tasteful ticking design, that complements any décor.

Once I knew the style of bed I wanted, and the quality I was after, the next decision was an easy one: it had to be designed and made in Britain. Soon after, the Mabel & Badger bed range had arrived.
